PROCESSOR
The HP Z600 packs eight-core compute and visualization power into a small, quiet package—for the ideal workstation when every inch, watt and decibel make a difference.
The Z600 supports two 64-bit Intel Xeon ‘Westmere’ 6-core processors onboard. The ‘Westmere’ processor supports Hyper-Threading which allows two threads to run simultaneously on each core — so the operating system recognizes 12 cores per processor, 6 real and 6 virtual. It also supports
“Turbo Boost” which automatically boosts the processor speed based on workload – so if an application is only using one of the 6 cores it will automatically increase the speed of the core in use and turn off the unused cores.
MEMORY
The Z600 has 6 DIMM Slots for DDR3 ECC Registered Memory; 3 slots for the initial processor and another 3 slots for the optional processor. The unit supports up to 48GB memory per processor.
HARD DRIVE / SSD – BAY
The Z600 has 2x internal 3.5″ SATA3 (6GB/s) bays. You can arrange any combination of hard drives or solid-state drives.
Z Workstations stocks only brand new HGST and Western Digital hard drives, and brand new Samsung solid-state drives.
OPTICAL BAY 1 (UPPER)
The Z600 chassis has two 5.25″ bays to be used for optical drives, hard drives, or solid-state drives. One DVD Burner drive that burns and plays both CDs and DVDs comes standard.
Since hard drives are 3.5″ and solid-state drives are 2.5″, the drive adapters are included in the listed price.
GRAPHICS CARD
The Z600 mainboard has 2x PCI Express Gen2 x16 slots available for the performance graphics cards and/or accelerators.
If more than one of the same graphics card is selected, we will include and install the SLI Bridge by default.
ADD-ON CARDS
